Water

Sea Scout units– called ships- are established all across the country on oceans, bays, rivers, and lakes. Our activities bring us all over New Hampshire.

Wind

Let the wind guide your sail! Sailing and nautical knowledge are a huge factor in Sea Scouts. There are so many ways to learn new skills and we try as many as we can.

World Connection

Sea Scouts is the 2nd oldest scouting program and there are over 50 countries worldwide that have some type of similar water-focused scouting.

History

114 years and counting.....

Sea Scouts USA began in 1912, inspired by British Sea Scouting, with Arthur A. Carey and Charles T. Longstreth establishing the first American units to teach seamanship and boat management to older youth, evolving through changes like becoming Sea Explorers in 1949, co-ed in 1972, joining Venturing in 1998, and becoming a standalone program in 2016. In 2018, Sea Scouts was designated as the official youth program of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary
